Sickness makes you unhappy! Today we’re going to read a story about ‘sickness’.
1.Cover reading
This is the cover of the picture book. Look carefully, what can you see on the cover? Do you know what is lion dance?Let’s enjoy a video.(播放视频时,教师要适当讲解:Lion dance is an excellent folk art in China. It has been passed down from generation to generation. Each lion is usually performed by two people. One person dances the head and one person dances the tail.)
Great. Look at the boy. How does he feel? Why? (圈标题)
Yes. No school today. It’s the title.
2.Listen and find (P2-15)
But is he always happy? Now let’s listen to the story and try to find the answer. So is he always happy? Yes, first he’s happy. Then he’s sad. Finally, he becomes happy.(板书happy, sad, happy)So what happens?
3.Read and answer (P2-4)
Look at the boy! (放大表情和额头的汗) He doesn’t feel well. What’s the matter with him? Read P2-4 and circle the key words.

5.Make a dialogue
T: What does Mum do for him? Look at the picture. (P5遮盖对话内容。划call school before she goes to work.)
That’s right. If you were the boy’s teacher and Mum, what would you say on the phone? Can you make a dialogue? Work in two and act it out.

6.Complete and act
So we know Tom’s father cares about Tom too. But Tom is sad. What does he want to do or say? Please complete their dialogue according to page6,7and 8, then act it out with your partners.
